Rajkot Rural Police have busted a Madhya Pradesh–based gang that allegedly targeted locked houses in villages while posing as farm labourers. Three adults have been arrested — Jiten Chauhan (20), Johru Bamaniya (21), and Mahendrasinh Maheda — while one minor has been detained. Two other suspects remain at large. All arrested adults are residents of Alirajpur and Dhar districts of MP.
The investigation began after a burglary in Vajdigadh village under the Metoda GIDC police jurisdiction a month and a half ago, during which the gang allegedly stole Rs2.8 lakh in cash and valuables. They also stole a motorcycle from a nearby colony to flee the scene.
According to Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar, Bamaniya, who worked as a farm labourer in Morbi district, would scout houses for vulnerabilities. Once a target was chosen, he would call accomplices from Madhya Pradesh. The gang allegedly used stolen vehicles for the burglaries, then stole another two-wheeler to escape.
During interrogation, Chauhan reportedly confessed to eight offences, and records show he had previously been booked five times at various police stations in Madhya Pradesh. The other accused also allegedly confessed to multiple burglaries. Police are continuing investigations to verify all claims and trace the remaining members of the gang.
