In a tragic incident during the Rath Yatra festival in South Rourkela’s Hatintola Basti, Raisingh Munda (37) allegedly killed his wife, Sabita Munda, following a dispute over Rs 500.

The incident took place late Friday night in the “A” Block of Jalda. According to reports, Sabita had taken Rs 500 from their home to attend the Rath Yatra without informing Raisingh. When Raisingh returned from work and found her missing, he confronted her upon her return around 11 PM. An argument broke out after learning she had spent the money at the festival.

In a fit of anger, Raisingh pushed Sabita, causing her to fall, and then struck her abdomen with a wooden stick. The attack was fatal, and Sabita died at the scene.

Neighbors alerted Tangarpalli police the following morning. Officer Niranjana Sethi arrived promptly, arrested Raisingh, and launched an investigation. A scientific team was also deployed to examine the crime scene.
