Missamari, Assam – Kanak Chandra Bordoloi, principal of Missamari Higher Secondary School, has been arrested for alleged child abuse involving a Class IX student during Saraswati Puja celebrations on January 23.
The victim initially stayed silent but later confided in her family and classmates. After a complaint to the school authorities failed to produce action, the family approached the police. A case was registered at Missamari Police Station under BNS sections 74/75(2) and child protection laws relating to sexual abuse.
Bordoloi was apprehended at his residence in Dhekiajuli, produced before the court, and remanded to judicial custody. Reports indicate that the principal faced multiple allegations of sexual harassment prior to this arrest. Local residents and child rights advocates have called for strict punishment to ensure justice and safeguard students.
