A 23-year-old cashier, Jada Lindsay, from Mount Pleasant, Hope Bay, has been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing rent money collected on behalf of her employer. Lindsay faces charges of larceny as a servant and fraudulent conversion, following her actions between December 2024 and January 2025.
The theft occurred while Lindsay was employed at a business establishment on West Street, Port Antonio. During this period, she collected several months’ worth of rent from tenants on behalf of the complainant. However, instead of handing over the money, Lindsay allegedly kept it for personal use.
According to reports from the Port Antonio police, Lindsay admitted to the crime when confronted by the complainant, explaining that she had used the stolen money for personal expenses. A subsequent audit of the store revealed a shortage of $88,000 in January 2025 sales, which was linked to the stolen rent funds.
As a result, a report was filed, and following a question-and-answer interview on Monday, March 10, Lindsay was arrested and charged. Her court date is currently being finalised, and she will face legal proceedings for her actions.
