A 54-year-old plumber, Jyotirmoy alias Pintu Jakhmola, was arrested by the MIDC police for stealing Rs 15 lakh in cash from his brother-in-law’s house in Rajendra Nagar. The theft took place at Anjali Apartment, within the jurisdiction of the MIDC Police Station.
The accused, a resident of Kotdwara, Uttarakhand, had been staying with Ram Ashok Joshi, a 50-year-old lawyer, during the construction of Joshi’s house. According to Joshi’s complaint, he had stored Rs 18 lakh in a drawer, intended for the contractor’s payment. On March 3, Jyotirmoy left for Indore by bus and then proceeded to Uttarakhand.
The following day, Joshi’s wife, Rajni, discovered that only Rs 3 lakh remained in the drawer. Joshi tried contacting Jyotirmoy, but his calls went unanswered. After contacting Jyotirmoy’s friends, Joshi discovered that Rs 2 lakh had been deposited into one friend’s bank account and Rs 50,000 into another friend’s son’s account. Additionally, Jyotirmoy had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from one of his friends.
Realizing that Jyotirmoy had stolen the money, Joshi filed a police complaint. The MIDC police promptly registered the case and arrested Jyotirmoy, who now faces charges for the theft.
