NORTH BEND, Ore. — On January 20, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, North Coos dispatch received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence off Spinreel Road in North Bend. The female caller reported that her husband, later identified as 21-year-old Jason L. Nofziger, was allegedly the suspect in the incident, with their minor children present in the residence. As dispatch was gathering additional details, the line disconnected after the caller was heard yelling.
Law enforcement responded swiftly, with officers from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arriving on scene. The first officer to arrive, an Oregon State Police Trooper, made contact with Jason, who was reportedly uncooperative. Additional deputies arrived and found Jason in the process of being detained by the Trooper.
Following the arrest, an investigation led by Deputy Z. Smith confirmed the allegations. Jason was arrested on charges including Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree (Felony, in the presence of minor children), Domestic Strangulation, and two counts of Interfering with Making a Report.
Jason was transported to Coos County Jail and booked on the charges. The investigation continues, and authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
