Two men were arrested by Noida police on Monday for allegedly breaking into locked homes and stealing valuable items across the National Capital Region (NCR). The suspects were identified as Nurjamal Sheikh, a native of Bardhaman district in West Bengal, and Rajkumar Vishwas, from Murshidabad, West Bengal. Both men were residing in a rented accommodation in DLF Phase 1, Gurugram.

The arrests came after a police complaint from a Noida resident who reported a burglary on November 13. The complainant stated that while his family members were away, the suspects barged into his home through the kitchen window, making off with Rs1.5 lakh in cash and valuable jewellery.

The police quickly registered a case at Sector 39 Police Station on November 14, and initiated an investigation, which involved scanning CCTV footage and identifying the suspects. The police also announced a Rs25,000 bounty on the heads of the two individuals. The breakthrough came on Sunday night when, during a routine check near Shashi Chowk, Noida, two suspects on a motorcycle were spotted. When asked to stop, the suspects fled toward the Sector 42 forest area, firing at the police. The officers returned fire, injuring the suspects in their legs. The men were immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

Upon investigation, the police found that the suspects were involved in several burglary cases in Noida and Gurugram, specifically targeting locked houses. Jewellery worth approximately Rs1 crore and Rs1.35 lakh in cash were recovered from their possession.

The arrests were made following a series of theft incidents across the city, including five burglaries in Sector 39 and one in Sector 49 over the past two weeks. The police also confirmed that the suspects had been operating in the NCR area for some time, targeting vulnerable homes.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the suspects’ network and to identify other possible victims.
