ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA — The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to a criminal syndicate involved in defrauding a victim of two truckloads of cement worth ₦17 million.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was carried out by officers from 33 Police Station following a report from the victim, who was lured into an online transaction by a man identified as Edwin Emeka.
Emeka reportedly vanished after receiving the consignment, prompting a swift police investigation.
The suspects — Nnanna Charles and Okoye Chukwunonso — were apprehended after being traced to separate locations within the state. Police recovered large quantities of the stolen cement at different shops believed to be linked to the suspects.
“The suspects are now in custody and undergoing intense interrogation as efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing mastermind, Edwin, and other members of the syndicate,” said SP Ikenga.
Authorities warned the public to exercise extreme caution when engaging strangers online, especially for high-value transactions, stressing that such scams can result in serious financial and personal consequences.
The case will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
