Two arrested for aggravated kidnapping, robbery, and assault in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Two individuals, Nicholas L. Orpin and Abigail J. Schmitter, were arrested in connection to a disturbing incident that occurred on April 22, according to the Topeka Police Department (TPD).

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on that day, officers responded to a call from the 2000 block of SE Bellview Ave. The victim reported being forcibly made to transfer money from their account by individuals they did not know. Following the investigation, both Orpin and Schmitter were arrested.

Orpin faces multiple charges, including:

Aggravated kidnapping

Aggravated robbery

Aggravated assault

Criminal possession of a weapon

Criminal restraint

Theft

Schmitter faces similar charges, including:

Aggravated kidnapping

Aggravated robbery

Aggravated assault

Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon
