Nehru Nagar police have successfully cracked a sophisticated ATM theft case and arrested four accused from Bathinda, Punjab, for looting Rs 3.07 lakh from a bank ATM in Nehru Nagar earlier this month. What shocked the police was the use of a spy camera by the accused to capture the pattern code of the ATM’s inner cash box, enabling them to steal the cash.
The four arrested have been identified as Jasvir Singh Sukhdev Singh (29) from Lehra Bega Road, Bucho Mandi; Lakhvir Singh Baldev Singh (31); Gurpreet Singh Karnail Singh (27) from Verma Basti; and Rachpal Singh Baldev Singh (37). Police said all the accused hail from North India.
Authorities recovered a Skoda car worth Rs 3 lakhs, Rs 20,000 in cash, three mobile phones, a spy camera, a Wi-Fi dongle, multiple SIM cards, a memory card reader, an OTG device, and forged ATM keys from the accused.
The theft took place on June 7, 2025, between 6:23 AM and 6:28 AM, when the four men entered the ATM kiosk and used fake access tools and technical expertise to open the machine.
Following a complaint from the bank, a case was registered at Nehru Nagar Police Station. Additionally, a related FIR was lodged at Ghatkopar Police Station, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6) Sameer Shaikh.
