DAVISON, Mich. (WJRT) – A man from Davison, Namir Shango, has been charged for allegedly committing bottle return fraud.
According to the attorney general’s office, the 34-year-old was arraigned last week on a single count of false pretenses, valued between $50,000 and $100,000.
Shango is accused of generating counterfeit bottle deposit return invoices that appeared to be produced by the bottle return processing machine in his store. He allegedly submitted these invoices to his soft-drink distributor to obtain credits toward future deliveries.
The fraudulent activities reportedly took place at Valley Liquor in Mt. Morris.
Shango is set to return to court for a probable cause conference on August 29, with a bond established at $20,000.
