Mumbai police arrested two men, Adithya (23) and Sagar (21), for stealing motorcycles from apartment complexes and selling them on online marketplaces. The arrest came after Vignesh, a resident of Irumbuliyur, reported his bike stolen. While browsing online, Vignesh spotted his stolen motorcycle, originally worth over Rs1.5 lakh, listed for just Rs30,000.
The police posed as interested buyers and arranged a meeting with the suspects. When Adithya and Sagar arrived to complete the sale, officers apprehended them on the spot.
Authorities revealed that the duo was part of a larger gang targeting bikes parked inside residential complexes. After stealing the motorcycles, they transported them outside the city and listed them online at significantly reduced prices.
Police are currently investigating and searching for other gang members. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant and ensure their vehicles are securely locked, especially in shared parking areas.
