Mohali Police have arrested four men from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the brutal murder of a 23-year-old youth, Mukesh Baghel, who was fatally stabbed in Jujhar Nagar village on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased, Mukesh Baghel, who ran a pani puri cart in Bahlolpur to earn his livelihood, died on the spot after being attacked with knives. Police said the incident stemmed from a local dispute that escalated into deadly violence.
The arrested accused have been identified as Chaturbhuj alias Ajay Mishra (45), a resident of Jujhar Nagar originally from Uttar Pradesh; Shiv Kumar alias Sheebu (18) from Pasrampur village in Mainpuri district; Arjun Mishra (21); and Manish Kumar alias Munna (18), both residents of Kalyanpur in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Karan Sandhu, Shiv Kumar carried out the knife attack that led to Baghel’s death, while the other accused were involved in the assault. All four suspects have been taken into custody and are scheduled to be produced before a district court.
Mukesh Baghel is survived by his wife and his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. His family, originally from Madhya Pradesh, had been residing in rented accommodation in Jujhar Nagar. Police said further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the roles of each accused.
