In a major crackdown on vehicle thefts, police on Friday arrested Mohit Ginwal (23), Prashant Marmat (18), and a juvenile in connection with the theft of 13 motorcycles valued at around Rs14 lakh in the Tukoganj area.
According to officials, the police team spotted a youth sitting on a motorcycle near an insurance office during routine patrol. Upon checking, the vehicle’s documents and registration number were found to be fake and forged.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing motorcycles from areas including Vijay Nagar, MIG, MG Road, and other parts of the city. The trio admitted that they scouted new and expensive vehicles, planned their thefts, and parked the stolen motorcycles at isolated locations, such as behind Palasia Mosque, under Rajkumar Bridge, the insurance office parking, and Nigam Market in Ballabhnagar.
Police have taken the accused into custody, and the stolen motorcycles have been recovered. Investigations are ongoing to identify any additional accomplices.
