Mohammed Salman Held for Temple Theft in Hebri

Accused stole up to Rs5,000 from temple offering box

A man was arrested by Hebri Police for allegedly stealing money from the donation box of the Mudradi Abhayahaste Adishakti Temple during the early hours of Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Salman (24), is a resident of Harihara in Davanagere. According to police, the theft occurred around 12:40 a.m. when Salman reportedly broke open the offering box and stole an estimated Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 in cash.

The incident came to light when Sukumar, the temple caretaker who lives nearby, heard suspicious noises. Upon investigating, he saw a man fleeing the scene. Further inspection revealed the offering box had been forcibly opened.

Following a police complaint and the details provided by Sukumar, Salman was identified and arrested. Authorities have registered a case at Hebri Police Station under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The investigation is ongoing.
