Parolee Mesha Hartman Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Drug Possession
A 28-year-old woman identified as Mesha Hartman was arrested Sunday in Cimarron Hills for motor vehicle theft, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were conducting a routine patrol near the Econo Lodge Hotel on Panamint Court when they spotted a white Chevrolet pickup truck matching a recent theft report. The vehicle had a dark-tinted plate cover that obscured the temporary license plate, prompting a traffic stop.
The truck failed to stop immediately, pulling over multiple times along Peterson Road before finally halting near Western Drive and Chiricahua Drive. Hartman, the driver, was found to be using a fake temporary tag, and the truck was confirmed stolen in March from Colorado Springs.
A search of the vehicle led deputies to discover narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. Hartman, who was already on parole for prior convictions involving weapons, narcotics, and vehicle theft, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail.
She faces several charges including motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fictitious registration.
