The police have arrested another individual, Melbin Mathew (23) from Mattathil House, Sultan Bathery, Wayanad, in connection with the murder of Hemachandran. This brings the total number of accused in the case to five.
Following the interrogation of previously arrested suspects, investigators uncovered Melbin’s involvement. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Authorities revealed that after abducting Hemachandran, Melbin acted as a witness to a financial agreement related to the case and was present in the vehicle carrying Hemachandran along with other accused individuals. Despite knowing about the murder, Melbin concealed the crime and did not report it to the police.
Hemachandran, a resident of Sultan Bathery who had been missing from Kozhikode for over a year and a half, was discovered buried in the forests of Cherambadi, Tamil Nadu, on June 28. The investigation is ongoing.
