ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Matthew Belk, 35, owner of the recently closed Jackson’s Bakery in Greece, was arrested on multiple charges including criminal possession of stolen property and controlled substances, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Belk was charged with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and various traffic violations.
Belk’s registered address is 614 Stone Road, the location of Jackson’s Bakery, which was shut down by the Monroe County Department of Health due to numerous health violations. The bakery was ordered closed on June 20, 2025, after inspection reports cited public health hazards such as contamination from mouse droppings, dead insects, debris, and animal hair.
The arrest resulted from a complaint about a suspicious individual at the Candlewood Apartments. Deputies found Belk in possession of a stolen Ram 1500 van, two stolen credit cards, and a white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
Jackson’s Bakery had also briefly closed last month after employees walked out, citing operational difficulties.
Belk is currently held at the Ontario County Jail and will face the charges in court at a later date.
