NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Newington man, Martin Delgado, 30, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, federal officials announced Wednesday.

Delgado will also serve four years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut David Sullivan. He pleaded guilty on February 11 to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and a quantity of cocaine.

According to the news release, members of the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at Delgado’s Main Street residence on May 13, 2024. During the search, agents found:

2,500 wax paper sleeves containing fentanyl

Approximately 160 grams of loose fentanyl

About 21 grams of cocaine

Narcotics packaging materials

A loaded 9mm magazine

Delgado attempted to flee on foot but was arrested shortly after in West Hartford. Investigators recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, discarded nearby, and additional quantities of fentanyl and cocaine from his vehicle. The firearm had been reported stolen in 2019.

Delgado was initially charged with state offenses and released on bond before being federally arrested on August 2, 2024, and has remained in custody since then.
