WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Two men, Marcos Hernandez, 30, and Robert Henderson, 35, were arrested after allegedly pulling a man out of his truck and striking him with a football in a bizarre incident early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to Clematis Street at about 4:18 a.m. following reports of an altercation. The victim told police he was sitting in his 2023 white Dodge Ram pickup when Hernandez and Henderson approached, knocked on his driver’s side window, and then forcibly opened the door. Mistaking the men for clients due to his insurance work, the victim rolled down the window but was suddenly yanked out of the truck and punched, suffering a bloody nose.

A witness nearby at Keese’s Simply Delicious restaurant saw the two men running toward the truck and attempting to pull the victim out. According to police affidavits, Henderson allegedly struck the victim in the face with a football.

Both suspects claimed they thought the victim was trying to steal their vehicle, leading them to take matters into their own hands without calling law enforcement. Officers noted that uniformed officers were nearby, but neither Hernandez nor Henderson sought help.

Hernandez and Henderson were booked on charges of burglary with assault or battery. Henderson reportedly expressed regret, calling the incident a misunderstanding.
