A 40-year-old truck driver from Manipur, identified as Animesh Sarkar, was arrested 10 days ago by Delhi Police for attempting to traffick four kilograms of heroin. The arrest took place near the Mayur Vihar toll plaza while Sarkar was trying to smuggle the narcotic substance across Delhi’s National Capital Region (NCR).
According to the police, Sarkar is part of an inter-state drug trafficking cartel based in Manipur, and has been involved in the illicit trade of heroin for the past three years. The heroin was seized from him during routine checks, and Sarkar was taken into custody for further interrogation.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to crack down on the growing drug trafficking networks operating within the NCR region. Police are now investigating the larger network behind Sarkar’s activities and working to trace other members of the cartel.
