Man Slits Retired Bus Conductor’s Throat; Accused Roby Dies After Mob Assault

Suspect dies following mob attack in Kollampalayam, police arrest made

A 47-year-old man allegedly slit the throat of 70-year-old retired bus conductor Subramani at his residence in Kollampalayam Housing Unit on April 17. Subramani’s wife, Jeyalakshmi, raised the alarm, and neighbours rushed to the scene to catch the intruder.

The mob assaulted the suspect, later identified as S. Roby Oran, and handed him over to Erode South police. The police admitted him to the Government Headquarters Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Following the incident, police arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the attack. Investigation is ongoing.
