by Ananya Mehta

The Sushant Golf City Police have arrested Shakti Pal Singh, a resident of Wazirganj in Gonda district, for defrauding Rs70 lakh by falsely promising a government job in the Secretariat. The victim, Vinod Kumar from Ganjdundwara, Kasganj district, filed a complaint after he realized that he had been duped by Singh, who had assured him that his son would secure a government position through his influential connections.

Trusting Singh’s promises, Vinod Kumar handed over a sum of Rs70 lakh, believing his son would land the job. However, after a long wait and no job offer, Kumar grew suspicious. When he confronted Singh and demanded the return of the money, the accused allegedly issued threats, including death threats, to intimidate him.

Following Kumar’s complaint, the police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Shakti Pal Singh. Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover whether Singh was part of a larger network involved in similar fraudulent activities.
