The Special Operations Group (SOG), surveillance cell, and Colonelganj police have successfully busted a burglars’ gang based in Madhya Pradesh, arresting three key members near the IERT trisection road while they were attempting to escape from the city. The police seized stolen jewellery worth several lakhs, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables from the accused.

The arrested burglars were identified as Romi Singh Narang (31), Raj Singh (20), and Jaspal Singh (38), all residents of Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The gang was known for entering homes by posing as repairmen fixing locks on almirahs and boxes, only to steal valuables.

The case came to light when PN Goswami of Colonelganj filed a complaint on July 30, alleging that an unknown man had entered his house under the pretense of repairing an almirah and had escaped with gold and silver ornaments. The police registered an FIR under section 305(A) of BNS following the complaint.

During interrogation, the arrested burglars confessed to frequently changing their locations to evade police detection. They revealed that the gang operated across distant states to avoid raising suspicion.

The police are continuing their investigation to dismantle the entire network and recover more stolen goods.
