In a significant drug bust, Manipur Police seized 2.88 kilograms of suspected brown sugar during a routine check on June 5 near Daili village along National Highway-2 in Kangpokpi district.
The contraband was discovered inside a Hyundai Creta, which was intercepted under the jurisdiction of the Kangpokpi Police Station. Upon inspection, officers found 75 soap cases filled with a suspected narcotic substance concealed within the vehicle. The total weight, including packaging, was recorded at 2.88 kg.
Two individuals were taken into custody on the spot. They were identified as M Ngaiyu Vekhe and A Dahnii Abraham, both residents of Thingba Khullen in the Senapati district.
The vehicle, the suspected drugs, and the two men have been handed over to the local police for further investigation and legal action. Authorities are now working to uncover the origin of the substance and the possible network behind the smuggling operation.
