by Sophia Bennett

PASAY CITY — Authorities arrested 42-year-old Li in connection with a currency exchange scam that defrauded a Vietnamese national of ₱1.1 million on March 14.

The victim, identified as Ho, met Li and his accomplice, known only as Ana, at Mobile Computer Quick Repair in Pasay City, following a recommendation from his brother. Ho brought the money for a promised Vietnamese currency exchange.

During the meeting, Li and Ana allegedly counted the money and handed it to an unidentified Chinese man, who immediately left the area. Ana reportedly told Ho that the currency would be sent shortly, leaving Li behind.

Realizing he had been scammed, Ho sought help from security personnel, who contacted the Pasay City Police. Li was quickly arrested near Macapagal Boulevard and is now in police custody facing estafa charges.

Authorities continue to search for Ana and the unidentified accomplice involved in the scheme.
