LEESBURG, Fla. — A Leesburg man was arrested on Sunday after attempting to break into a home and later being found with methamphetamine in his possession, authorities say.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies responded to an attempted burglary at a residence in Leesburg. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Bradley Baird, reportedly fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived. However, the victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, including his direction of travel.
The investigation was further supported by surveillance footage from the home, which helped deputies pinpoint Baird’s whereabouts. While canvassing the area, a deputy located Baird walking along Pala Verda Avenue, where he appeared to have a large bulge in his pocket.
Baird was questioned by deputies, who noted that he changed his story multiple times. After detaining him, deputies conducted a search and found over 16 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana in his pocket.
Authorities also revealed that Baird was already out on bond for Grand Theft Auto, which has now been revoked.
Baird was transported to the Lake County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including attempted burglary and methamphetamine possession.
