RICHLANDS, VA — A man was arrested on multiple charges following a morning incident in Tazewell County.
According to a Richlands Police Department Facebook post, 21-year-old Landon David Ball, of Richlands, was charged with vandalism, possession of brass knuckles, wearing a mask in public to conceal identity, attempted larceny, and burning or destroying personal property.
Police responded around 6:31 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, after reports that Ball was standing on a porch carrying a bookbag, wearing a mask, and refusing to leave. Officers observed Ball fleeing toward Cliff Street and detained him without incident.
Investigators gathered video footage and statements from the victim, revealing that Ball allegedly:
Used a torch to burn part of the porch
Attempted to steal a portable heater, which he abandoned
Tried to remove the rear license plate from the victim’s van
Police also recovered a set of brass knuckles outside the back door of the house.
The Richlands Police Department stated the investigation is ongoing and emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
