Kupwara Police Arrest 3 in Hajaj Market Burglary

Stolen cash, clothes, and motorcycle recovered

KUPWARA: Kupwara Police successfully cracked a burglary case reported from Hajaj Market, arresting three suspects and recovering stolen property.

The burglary occurred during the night of January 9–10, 2026, within the jurisdiction of Police Post Bazaar. The following day, the complainant reported the theft, and FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station Kupwara.

Multiple police teams, led by DySP Headquarters Mubashir Niaz, launched a detailed investigation. CCTV footage from various locations was collected and analyzed, providing key leads.

Based on the technical evidence, Akhter Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir from Drugmulla, was arrested first. Following his disclosure, two more associates were apprehended, including Showket Ahmad Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, also of Drugmulla. The third suspect’s name is being withheld for investigative reasons.

Police recovered stolen property from the accused’s residences, including cash, cash garlands, empty garlands, dry fruits, and readymade clothes such as jeans and jackets. The motorcycle used in the burglary was also seized.

Investigation into the case is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure further leads are traced.
