Police cracked a major theft case in Ratanlal Nagar, leading to the arrest of Kuldeep Singh alias Babbi and Chhotu alias Kariya. The suspects allegedly stole over Rs 26 lakh in cash and jewelry from the residence of bank manager Inderpreet Chawla.
According to investigators, the thieves entered the house by climbing over the boundary after spotting a locked gate. During the burglary, the suspects helped themselves to branded liquor and sandwiches from the fridge before fleeing with the valuables.
The case was solved thanks to footage from 155 CCTV cameras installed under Operation Trinetra. The video captured the two suspects, one bearing facial injuries.
Kuldeep was recognized as a frequent visitor to a liquor shop in Dabauli, where police set a trap and arrested him on Friday evening. His interrogation led to the arrest of his accomplice, Chhotu, from whom police recovered a firearm and cartridges.
Chhotu has a criminal record with ten registered cases across various police stations. Kuldeep is also linked to multiple theft incidents.
