Kollam police are examining the call records of Anila Ravindran, 34, arrested last week for smuggling MDMA hidden in both her body and her car. The investigation, which is being supported by the cyber division, aims to uncover a larger drug network involved in the trafficking operation.
The Kollam city police have requested her custody for further questioning. Authorities plan to interrogate her thoroughly to identify any other individuals involved in the distribution network. According to investigators, Anila had smuggled the MDMA from Bengaluru with the intention of handing it over to a distributor in Kollam. The investigation is being supervised by Kollam City Police Commissioner Kiran Narayanan, with ACP S Shareef and his team leading the probe.
Anila was arrested near Neendakara Bridge last week in a daring operation led by Kottiyam police and the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF). While traveling in a Karnataka-registered car, Anila’s vehicle attracted the attention of the police. When she failed to stop, the authorities chased and intercepted her car, leading to her arrest.
A search of her handbag revealed 36.86 grams of MDMA, concealed in a black-taped plastic cover. However, a more significant quantity of 40.17 grams of MDMA was found hidden in her private area during a medical examination, after she was questioned by the police.
Further investigation revealed that the car Anila was driving belonged to a friend. Kollam police continue to probe the case in efforts to uncover more details about the drug network.
