LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A woman from Kentucky is behind bars in Lafayette Parish after being accused of defrauding a victim through an online sale.

Teresa Holcomb, 48, from Annville, Kentucky, was arrested on March 21, 2025, after a detailed investigation by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit, in cooperation with Kentucky State Police. She faces two counts each of theft and illegal transmission of monetary funds.

The investigation began in October 2024, when Holcomb allegedly offered an antique collectors’ item for sale online to a victim in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. The victim paid $1,330 through a popular digital payment platform, but Holcomb failed to deliver the item as promised.

As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered evidence that Holcomb was involved in several fraudulent schemes, leading to an arrest warrant being issued for her. She was taken into custody in Kentucky on February 21, 2025, and transported to the Lafayette Parish jail nearly a month later.

Holcomb is currently being held on a $5,000 bond. Authorities continue to investigate her involvement in additional online fraud cases.

This arrest serves as a reminder of the risks of online transactions and the importance of vigilance when making purchases through digital platforms.
