Yellowknife – A local resident was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly stealing a tour bus that had been briefly left unattended at a gas station.
Police said the incident was reported around 1:15 a.m. on March 7, when officers received information that a tour bus had been taken from the gas station while the driver was away from the vehicle.
Less than an hour later, officers located the bus in a nearby parking lot. Authorities surrounded the vehicle, but the driver allegedly attempted to flee by reversing the bus into a police cruiser before stopping.
The driver, identified as Kayla Crozier, 39, was arrested without further incident. Officers reported that Crozier showed signs of drug impairment at the time of her arrest and was taken to a hospital, where blood samples were collected for further testing.
Crozier has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, mischief under $5,000, operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs, and driving with a suspended license.
She was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody. Police confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.
