In a significant breakthrough, the Karimnagar Two Town police have arrested Soora Ravi, a 35-year-old habitual thief from Warangal district, who had been terrorizing the public with multiple thefts. Commissioner of Police Goush Alam confirmed the arrest on Friday, noting Ravi’s long history of theft-related crimes.
According to the CP, Ravi, who lost his father at a young age, lived with his mother in Karimnagar. A school dropout, he initially worked as a potter, following his family’s traditional occupation, but eventually turned to theft due to bad habits. During his arrest, police recovered two gold biscuits and gold bars weighing approximately 105 grams.
In a separate incident, Karimnagar One Town police arrested Kandi Sampath Reddy, a 47-year-old from Nawab Peta village, Chigurumamidi mandal, for stealing passengers’ bags at the Karimnagar bus stand. On Friday morning, Inspector Billa Koteshwar and his team, while patrolling near Kaman Chowrasta, detained Reddy, who was wearing a face mask and acting suspiciously.
Upon interrogation, Reddy confessed to stealing gold jewellery and cash from bags on crowded buses. Police recovered 150 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 10 lakh in cash from him. Reddy admitted to several thefts, including stealing 47 grams of gold from a woman’s bag at the bus stand on February 24, Rs 13 lakh from an elderly man’s bag on a Godavarikhani-Secunderabad bus on April 8, and 16.5 tolas of gold ornaments from another woman’s bag on a Hyderabad-bound bus on February 14. Reddy was caught attempting to conceal the stolen goods during his arrest.
Both individuals are currently in police custody, and investigations are continuing into their involvement in other thefts across the region.
