In a significant crackdown, Kanpur Police arrested four individuals involved in a counterfeit currency operation. The accused were caught attempting to use fake currency to make an advance payment for jewellery in Farrukhabad district. The police seized counterfeit notes worth Rs 1.4 lakh, along with tools used to manufacture the fake money.

The investigation began when a jeweller in Mohammadabad, Farrukhabad, became suspicious of the authenticity of the currency he received from a group of young men who had placed an order for jewellery. After the suspects made an advance payment with fake notes, the jeweller alerted the authorities, prompting an immediate investigation. The Special Operations Group (SOG) played a key role in tracking down the counterfeit currency operators, leading to the arrests.

A raid was conducted on Monday in Nadora village, where counterfeit currency and manufacturing equipment were discovered. ASP Sanjay Singh confirmed the arrests of Sarvesh Kumar from Bilsad village in Etah district, and Vipin Kumar (alias JP) from Tikura Nagla in Merapur police station area. The investigation further led to the arrest of Yagyamitra Yadav and Deepak Yadav from Nadora.

The police recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 1,40,900 and various materials, including a color printer, mobile phones, paper, and other tools used in the manufacturing process.
