A 23-year-old former call centre employee, Joynila Tongsin Anal, has been arrested for a series of burglaries in upscale neighborhoods of southwest Delhi, police confirmed on Tuesday.
Originally from Manipur, Joynila moved to Delhi in October 2024 and initially worked at a call centre while residing in Munirka. However, she soon quit her job and began targeting locked houses in nearby areas such as Kishangarh and Safdarjung Enclave.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Amit Goel, revealed that Joynila used a collection of 50 master keys to discreetly test door locks and gain unauthorized entry into homes. She then stole valuables and escaped without raising suspicion.
The police investigation was triggered after two separate complaints were filed with the Kishangarh and Safdarjung Enclave police stations. One victim reported the theft of a laptop, LED TV, and camera accessories from his Munirka residence. Another victim reported missing gold and diamond earrings, a headphone, shoes, and Rs 1,300 in cash.
On June 14, Joynila was arrested in the Chhatarpur area. During questioning, she admitted to the burglaries and led officers to her residence where multiple stolen items were recovered.
Authorities also seized the 50 master keys she used to silently unlock homes without attracting attention. The investigation continues as police probe if she was part of a larger operation.
