Joshua Awbrey Charged in $10K Grand Junction Bank Robbery

Suspect found hiding in nearby business restroom

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) — One man is behind bars following a bank robbery that occurred late Wednesday afternoon in Grand Junction.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 5 p.m. to a bank in the 500 block of 32 Road for reports of a robbery in progress.

Witnesses told deputies that a man had fled the bank with approximately $10,000 in cash.

Shortly after, authorities located 45-year-old Joshua Awbrey hiding in the restroom of a nearby business. He was taken into custody without incident.

Awbrey was booked into the Mesa County Jail and now faces felony charges of robbery and theft. No injuries were reported during the incident.
