San Francisco police have arrested Joseph Zachary Negapatan in connection with a burglary that led to the theft of bicycles worth approximately $28,000. The arrest followed an investigation that began when the victim noticed their stolen bicycles being sold online.
On January 2, 2025, officers responded to a burglary report at a residence on the 2700 block of Anza Street. The suspect had entered the home and stolen several high-value bicycles. Later, on January 13, the victim reported a potential match for their stolen bicycles on an online marketplace. This information led investigators to identify Negapatan as a prime suspect.
With probable cause, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Negapatan, as well as search warrants for his vehicle, person, and residence in San Lorenzo, California. On January 15, 2025, officers arrested Negapatan near his home without incident. A subsequent search of his residence revealed the stolen bicycles, along with other suspected stolen bikes, frames, and parts.
Negapatan was booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property. The investigation remains ongoing, and SFPD encourages anyone with information to come forward. They also recommend bicycle theft victims keep serial number records and use databases like www.bikeindex.com for recovery efforts.
The SFPD also thanked the District Attorney’s office for their assistance in the operation.
