LANCASTER, S.C. (WBTV) — Authorities in Lancaster County are searching for three men accused of running a yearslong door-to-door landscaping scam that targeted homeowners across multiple states.

The suspects, identified as Joseph Butler, Tyderrius White, and Anthony Bell Jr., are wanted on charges including obtaining property under false pretenses, strong-arm robbery, and criminal conspiracy.

According to investigators, the trio approached residents in Lancaster offering to install pine straw for $6 per bale. Victims reported that no written or verbal estimate was provided before work began.

After completing the work, the suspects allegedly claimed they had used a significantly higher number of bales than expected, resulting in inflated charges. When homeowners questioned the costs, authorities say the suspects became aggressive and pressured victims to pay immediately.

Investigators believe the scheme dates back to 2020 and targeted communities throughout the Southeast, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, where the suspects are believed to reside.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
