COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) — A 34-year-old man accused of being a repeat vehicle theft offender was taken into custody Wednesday after a coordinated operation by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
The suspect, Jonathan Rohde, was under investigation by the department’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit for his alleged role in stealing two vehicles and evading law enforcement on three separate occasions.
According to police, detectives conducted surveillance and coordinated with the Tactical Enforcement Unit to arrest Rohde without incident on West Pikes Peak Avenue, successfully preventing him from fleeing again.
Upon arrest, Rohde was reportedly found in possession of a stolen firearm and a felony amount of methamphetamine.
He now faces several charges, including:
Special offender
Possession of a weapon by a previous offender
Three counts of vehicular eluding
Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
Two counts of motor vehicle theft
As of Thursday afternoon, Rohde was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
