On Friday, Jhabua police arrested three individuals in connection with a recent theft at the Jain temple in Pitol Chhoti village. The accused were apprehended after police recovered valuable stolen items, including religious idols and cash.

The theft took place during the night of April 10-11, when unidentified men broke into the Jain temple by damaging the entrance and locks. The thieves made off with the main idol of Lord Nageshwar Parshwanath, crafted from black stone, two small brass idols, a brass aarti plate, a thali, six artificial canopies, artificial jewellery of the deity, and two donation boxes containing approximately Rs10,000 in cash.

Following a complaint filed by Jai, a local resident of Laxmibai Marg in Jhabua, Kotwali police registered a case and launched an investigation. SP Padmavilochan Shukla mentioned that multiple police teams were mobilized for the probe. The police team, led by Police Station In-charge Ramesh Chandra Bhaskare, made significant progress in the case.

On April 17, the police arrested two of the suspects: Dinesh, from Kaydawad Badi village, and Kalu, from Kachla village. The officers recovered two stolen necklaces, a metal crowbar (used during the break-in), and Rs520 in cash, which was believed to be part of the stolen money.

Further investigation led to the arrest of three additional suspects – Gamru and Sabur from Kachla, and Munna from Mod village. After interrogating the suspects, police recovered the main black stone idol of Lord Nageshwar Parshwanath along with the two small brass idols from their possession.

Notably, Gamru and Sabur, who are brothers, have criminal backgrounds and are already facing charges in a murder case registered at Kalyanpura police station. The police are continuing to question the accused regarding their past criminal activities.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover further details related to the stolen items and the criminals’ network.
