Jeffrey Fifield Arrested for Burglary in South Glens Falls

Homeowner finds intruder during early morning break-in

SOUTH GLENS FALLS, NY (WRGB) — A South Glens Falls man, Jeffrey Fifield, 38, was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly being caught in the act of a residential burglary, according to the South Glens Falls Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 AM on May 23, 2025, when Fifield allegedly entered a home unlawfully with the intent to steal. The homeowner unexpectedly returned, discovered Fifield inside the residence, and immediately contacted authorities.

Responding officers arrived promptly and took Fifield into custody without incident. He was reportedly found in possession of stolen property from the residence.

Fifield was arraigned in Moreau Town Court before Judge Jeffrey McCabe, who set bail at $5,000 cash or a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 28 at 9:00 AM.

Police confirmed there is no prior connection between the suspect and the victim, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

The arrest highlights the importance of community vigilance and rapid police response in preventing further crimes.
