LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after a crime spree that started in December and continued into January, leading to his arrest.

Louisville Metro Police shared a post on social media revealing that 47-year-old Jason McGill embarked on a series of criminal activities, beginning on December 10 when he stole a Honda CR-V. McGill’s crime spree continued with a burglary at Big-O Tires on Cane Run Road on Christmas Eve.

The following days saw McGill escalate his crimes. On December 26, McGill broke into the home of an 88-year-old woman in Louisville, demanding cash and stealing her rare jewelry. Two days later, on December 28, he placed a stolen license plate on the already stolen Honda CR-V and burglarized the Kaiser Tire on Southside Drive.

The New Year brought more criminal activity. Over the span of three days beginning January 3, McGill stole a Jeep, burglarized AutoWorks on Belmar Drive, and took a Volkswagen Jetta. Additionally, he is accused of breaking into the Homewood Suites on Central Avenue on January 6, where he stole about $100,000 worth of fiber optic equipment.

McGill’s crime spree ended on January 10 when LMPD officers apprehended him outside Oxmoor Mall, near Dick’s Sporting Goods. As officers approached, McGill rammed two police vehicles, and was found to be armed with a gun. A search of his car uncovered methamphetamine, the stolen jewelry, fiber optic equipment, keys to mechanic shops, and two more guns.

McGill is facing over a dozen charges, including drug possession, robbery, wanton endangerment, burglary, and automobile theft. He also has additional pending charges related to other ongoing investigations in Louisville.

He is currently being held at Metro Corrections on a $100,000 bond, with a court appearance scheduled for January 16 at 9 a.m.

Louisville Metro Police also confirmed that the 88-year-old woman’s stolen jewelry was successfully recovered and returned to her.
