In a major blow to drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized more than 30 kilograms of Charas powder during a series of coordinated raids in Anantnag district. The operations, which took place during the night, led to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of substantial quantities of narcotic substances from different locations in Wantrag village, under Police Station Mattan.
The police, acting on credible intelligence, initiated simultaneous raids on three separate residences. At Jehangir Ahmad Khan’s house, 23.33 kilograms of Charas powder were seized. A second raid on Reyaz Ahmad Khan’s residence led to the recovery of 3.67 kilograms of Charas. In the third operation, Nowshad Pathan’s house was found to contain 3.9 kilograms of Charas powder.
In total, the raids resulted in the seizure of 30.9 kilograms of Charas. All three accused—Jehangir Ahmad Khan, Reyaz Ahmad Khan, and Nowshad Pathan—have been arrested, and cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law. Ongoing investigations suggest that further arrests and recoveries may follow.
This operation is part of an intensified campaign by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to crack down on drug trafficking in the region. The police have assured the public that efforts to eliminate the drug menace will continue, emphasizing the need for community support in identifying and reporting suspicious activities.
“The fight against drug peddling will remain a priority, and we will continue with full intensity,” a police spokesperson stated. Community cooperation remains vital in making Anantnag and the entire region free from drugs.
