The Itanagar Police, Arunachal Pradesh, successfully cracked a high-value theft case, recovering stolen local ornament beads worth Rs 10.5 lakh in record time. The swift and efficient recovery came after the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar Shri Kengo Dirchi, as directed by SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS.
The theft case was reported on February 14, 2025, by the complainant, Smti Nido Yapi, whose ornaments were stolen from her residence in Abo-Tani Colony, Itanagar. Realizing the significance of the crime, the SIT immediately sprang into action, leveraging local networks, tracking habitual offenders, and employing advanced investigative techniques to solve the case.
After a thorough investigation, the team arrested Tatam Bate Gyadu (20), a resident of Bate village, Daporijo, Arunachal Pradesh. Based on his confession, all the stolen ornaments were recovered, bringing significant relief to the complainant.
The success of the operation was hailed by SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, who praised the team’s professionalism and dedication in solving a challenging case. He assured that the officers involved in this remarkable achievement would be appropriately recognized and rewarded.
