A jury at Birmingham Crown Court has been shown disturbing CCTV footage of the moment Minister Enfrence, 21, was fatally stabbed more than 20 times in what prosecutors described as a “frankly brutal” street attack.
The footage showed Enfrence being repeatedly stabbed near a car on Medway Grove, Kings Norton, on the morning of November 5 last year. The alleged assailants, Isaiah Marsh (21) and his sister Mya Marsh (23), are both charged with murder and an alternative count of manslaughter. Isaiah additionally faces a charge of possession of a knife.
According to prosecutor Jennifer Josephs KC, the pair, both of Teviot Grove, knew the victim as an associate and had previous contact with him. The motive may have stemmed from a dispute involving cannabis or a damaged bicycle.
Jurors were told that Mya Marsh had initially armed herself with a kitchen knife and was seen brandishing it while yelling in the street. Mr Enfrence was unarmed. As the situation escalated, Isaiah Marsh arrived, and the prosecution alleges that he grabbed Enfrence and repeatedly stabbed him, after receiving the knife from his sister.
“This was an unprovoked, senseless, and violent attack,” said Ms. Josephs. “Mya handed Isaiah the knife, and he carried out the fatal stabbing.”
After the incident, Mya reportedly went to work as if nothing had happened, later sleeping at a different address. Isaiah, meanwhile, claimed he had lost his phone when he turned himself in.
Judge Simon Drew KC warned the jury about the disturbing nature of the CCTV they would view during the trial. “You are going to have to watch that footage a number of times,” he said. “It’s quite shocking and distressing.”
The trial continues as the jury considers the charges against the Marsh siblings in a case that has shocked the local community.
