Panangad police successfully apprehended two inter-state thieves, Hibisul (22) from Delhi and Muhammad Rafiqul (25) from Bengaluru, in connection with a burglary incident in Nettoor.
The duo had been targeting residential areas under the guise of collecting scrap, bottles, and recyclable items during the day. After identifying vacant houses, they would return at night to break in and steal valuables. On one such occasion in Nettoor, they broke the lock of a house’s first floor and made off with items worth around Rs 2 lakh.
Further investigation revealed that Hibisul had previously been involved in a theft case at Aroor police station and was out on bail at the time. He had been evading capture by traveling between the Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts.
A special investigation team was formed under ACP Rajkumar’s leadership, which led to the successful arrest of the duo. Hibisul was caught at a friend’s house in Chalikkavattom, and Rafiqul was arrested in the Mulavukad area.
