The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone team, in collaboration with the Saidabad police, arrested two notorious house burglars, recovering stolen property worth Rs 15 lakh, including 145 gm of gold ornaments, a watch, and three mobile phones.

The accused have been identified as Habeeb Mohammed alias Chotu (37) and Habeeb Ali (49). Habeeb Mohammed, a habitual property offender and plumber by profession, has been involved in over 59 house burglaries and other property-related crimes in the Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates since the year 2000. His accomplice, Habeeb Ali, also a known criminal, has been previously linked to eight property offences.

In July 2024, both were arrested by the Moghalpura Police in connection with a burglary case, after which they had planned to commit more crimes. Habeeb Mohammed had stolen a two-wheeler and used it to commit a burglary during the night of March 23/24, under the Saidabad police limits. The duo had been absconding since then, but the police, after gathering clues from technical surveillance, located Habeeb Mohammed at his residence in Shaheen Nagar.

Upon questioning, Habeeb Mohammed confessed that half of the stolen goods were kept with him, which were promptly recovered. He also revealed that the remaining stolen items were given to Habeeb Ali for disposal. Following this information, the police apprehended Habeeb Ali at his residence in Sultan Shahi and recovered the remaining stolen property.

Both accused were presented before the court and have been sent for judicial remand. The police have confirmed that the duo was involved in six different burglary cases reported in the police limits of Saidabad, Falaknuma, I S Sadan, Moghalpura, and Shahinayathgunj.

The timely arrests and recovery of stolen property have been lauded as a major success by the Hyderabad police, who are continuing their investigation to uncover any further criminal activities linked to the two suspects.
