Huntsville Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking After Fentanyl Bust

Tavias Drake arrested following traffic stop and drug investigation

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A Huntsville man, Tavias Lavon Drake, was arrested on April 21 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple illegal substances, including fentanyl.

The Huntsville Police Department Anti-Crime Team initiated the traffic stop near Hilltop Terrace and Summerhill Drive due to traffic violations. According to officials, before pulling over, Drake allegedly tossed several bags from his vehicle.

Officers recovered the bags, which contained various illegal substances, including a substance that tested positive for fentanyl. This led to a follow-up narcotics investigation.

Further investigation revealed additional quantities of fentanyl and other illegal drugs at a home connected to Drake. Authorities seized over four ounces of fentanyl, 19.5 counterfeit fentanyl pills, and several other narcotics.

Drake, 31, was arrested and charged with:

Drug Trafficking

Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance

Possession of Marijuana – 1st Degree

He is currently being held in the Madison County Jail with a $1.5 million bond for the trafficking charge and $10,000 for each of the other charges.
