A suspended head constable, A. Sundararaj, was arrested on March 13 over allegations of rape and financial fraud involving a 43-year-old widow.
Police officials stated that Sundararaj, who was previously attached to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing, had developed a close association with the woman. The relationship later led to serious accusations, including sexual assault and cheating.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly deceived the woman and took approximately Rs29 lakh from her over a period of time. Following a complaint, authorities initiated an inquiry that resulted in his arrest.
Sundararaj had already been placed under suspension prior to the arrest. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
